Doug Dobbs

with a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, has been helping people of all ages achieve optimal fitness for 20+ years. Doug has 3 years experience as a Strength and Conditioning coach at the Division I college level, as well as college teaching experience in the exercise sciences. An accomplished lifelong multi-sport athlete, Doug has competed in powerlifting, triathlons, road racing, and intercollegiate athletics. Doug stays abreast of current trends through seminars, conferences and professional organizations. Doug has held numerous industry certifications over the years; certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, a certified worksite wellness specialist (CWWS) through the NWI, and he completed the curriculum for wellness coaching through WellCoaches. Doug is currently certified through the NASM as a Personal Trainer (CPT) and a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), and as a Qigong instructor through Supreme Science Qigong, as well as CPR/AED/BLS through the American Red Cross.

His holistic approach to wellness involves functionally integrating practical habits into each clients’ existing lifestyle to facilitate the evolution of a healthier existence. This is accomplished through a comprehensive assessment of the client’s nutritional, exercise, and recreational habits and subsequent development of a progressively challenging life change program. Clients are assessed regularly and new goals are set to ensure maximum benefits and lifelong wellness.

Doug has extensive expertise in exercise facility layout and design, both for home and commercial applications. Doug has worked with OAI and Greencorps Chicago to help educate participants in a NFP workforce development program. Doug spent 5 years developing fitness, health and recreation programs for the residents at the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center. Doug also gained invaluable and inspirational experiences while volunteering at The Rehab Institute of Chicago, where he worked with individuals with serious health challenges as they courageously endeavored to regain functionality and improve their abilities.

These explorations and practices have allowed Doug to develop a network of relationships with professionals in a variety of fields which serves to benefit his clients by providing the ingenuity, flexibility, and versatility necessary to individualize a balanced wellness program to meet his clients’ specific needs and goals.
